GI Director: Beth Israel
Beth Israel Medical Center is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to direct our Division of Digestive Diseases within the Department of Medicine. The Division is comprised of a busy Endoscopy unit, inpatient consult service, and outpatient physician practices. Clinical research is a main focus as well. The Division has a fully ACGME accredited Gastroenterology fellowship program.

Qualified candidates should have administrative experience managing a complex clinical operation as well as a proven track record in the areas of teaching and research. Prominence in a focused area of Gastroenterology preferred. Academic rank should be at the level of Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine.

Beth Israel Medical Center has over 1,100 beds, and is a full-service tertiary teaching hospital that was founded on Manhattan's Lower East Side before the turn of the 20th century. Beth Israel originally was dedicated to serving a vulnerable population in that community. Now, a century later, the Medical Center serves individuals and families from every walk of life throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and beyond.

Vice President, Finance

The site VP of Finance will report to the President of Beth Israel and to the Senior Vice President of Financial Planning at Continuum as a team member assisting the President in managing all financial issues at BIMC. In addition to the President, the VP will also assist the site administrative staff with the preparation of any reports, special projects or analyses required to resolve operational issues or programmatic development. The incumbent will be responsible for helping operations staff to develop, implement and monitor the annual operating and capital budgets and providing insight and analysis of monthly budget variances. The VP will provide explanation and guidance to site leadership on monthly financial reporting results and issues and assist Corporate Finance leadership with the preparation of any reports for presentation to Administration, Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees. Additional responsibilities include assisting site staff in developing revenue enhancement and cost containment initiatives; coordinating the preparation of financial statements and representing Corporate Finance at certain site operational committees. The VP will act independently to address and resolve problems and issues that arise in areas under his/her responsibility. The successful candidate is also expected to be proactive in resolving problems and issues not under his/her responsibility by directing them appropriately. The VP must be an organizational leader in Continuum’s commitment to diversity and inclusion by participating in and showing a commitment to activities that promote cultural competency in the workplace.

This senior-level position requires a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Business or Finance; a CPA is preferred. Five to seven years of relevant financial/budgeting experience in a health care setting and specific knowledge of hospital revenue and reimbursement are needed. The ideal applicant will be familiar with GME reimbursement and have the ability to integrate finance and operations soundly. Excellent interpersonal/communication skills are required in order to interact with clinical chairs and department heads.
